Excitement is brewing as we anticipate the grandest, successful outcomes of collected items donated by the community of Erie, PA, USA. Below is a picture from one of last year's distribution events.
It all started on the afternoon of Wednesday, 01 February 2023 when Nthabiseng Moche, co-founder and Director of Eco Girls SA was interviewed by Homer Smith on 90.5 WERG FM, a local radio station in Erie about Health & Hygiene 2023 campaign for rural high school girls in North West province, South Africa. After the interview on 90.5 WERG FM, the radio station ran a promotional drive on weekends for the Health & Hygiene campaign which the Eco Girls SA was working on in collaboration with Urban Erie Community Development Corporation (UECDC). The weekend drive on the radio, got the community’s attention. It got the community of Erie to stand up and do their bit in support.
UECDC coordinated six sites where people could drop of donated toiletry items. They also created a cash set up for people who preferred to donate cash. Originally, the closing date for collection of toiletry items was Wednesday, 22 March 2023. However, the response was so overwhelmingly surprising that the closing date for collection was extended to Saturday, 25 March 2023. The momentum is certainly picking up with the closing date looming! By the morning of 22 March 2023, people were beginning to bring in collected items from various sites in trolleys and boxes. Our target number is 250. But by the look of things, we will exceed it by far. We accept all the donations that Erie has to offer. It is safe for us to receive. We receive with open arms and open hearts, graciously in abundance at the highest dimension for the highest good. Infinite Gratitude in advance. Together we can always do more!!!
One thing which has been consistently clear on this campaign is ensuring the right collaborations and making a difference together. Collaborations! Collaborations! Collaborations!
